BCB not to allow BPL 2022 fans

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has said on Saturday (January 15) fans will not be allowed into the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League program, scheduled to start on January 21, due to the expansion of the Covid-19 Omicron.

The government of Bangladesh on January 10 imposed restrictions on controlling the spread of the virus. BCB has decided to allow fans in the recently concluded home series to play Pakistan after blocking them when they restart cricket, international and domestic, at home. But BPL governing body secretary Ismail Haider Mallick told Cricbuzz on Saturday that they would not allow supporters to the next BPL as per government directives.

"No fans will be allowed on the pitch during the next BPL. These are instructions given to the government and we are following them, ”said Mallick. He went on to say that they will not be able to have DRS in this tournament because they cannot bring in foreign experts because of Corona.

"We will not be able to use DRS in the BPL because of the Covid situation. Now (experts) cannot fly. Their two teams are now in two countries, they will not be able to come to Bangladesh in this situation from there," he said. Mallick. '' Hawk-Eye Company is the only DRS provider in the world. No one wants to come because of Omicron.

“We have nothing to discuss with the franchises about the DRS. in the BPL. We also got permission from the government but everything changed because of Omicron. "

The local and foreign referees will officiate the tournament.
